Miro Smrekar
Secretary-General of the Association of Employers of Slovenia (ZDS)
Miro Smrekar is the Secretary-General of the Association of Employers of Slovenia (ZDS). Within the ZDS, he has served as a longstanding member, Chairman of the Services Section Committee, and from 2012 to 2022 as the Vice-President of the ZDS. He is a veteran HR professional, having led an employment agency for twenty years. He has also presided over the Association of Employment Agencies for several years. Additionally, he founded his own consulting company specializing in occupational health and safety. He is a member of the Economic Social Council in Slovenia and represents employers in numerous tripartite working and negotiating groups for the preparation of labor market legislation. Internationally, he is actively involved in the executive committee of BusinessEurope, in Business at OECD, and in the IOE (International Organisation of Employers at the International Labour Organization).

Panel discussion: Transforming recruitment: Hiring from third countries, reskilling, and outsourcing
In the panel discussion led by Miro Smrekar, we will focus on key trends and strategies in employment. We will discuss reskilling of workers with representatives from the Employment Service of Slovenia, challenges of hiring from third countries with Boštjan Trilar from Heads Adriatic, and advantages and challenges of outsourcing with Tilen Prah from WeMove. The panel will seek answers to how innovations in the recruitment process sustainably strengthen companies as well as the skills, engagement, and employability of workers.
