Greta Metka Barbo Škerbinc

General Director of the Employment Service of Slovenia

Greta Metka Barbo Škerbinc graduated from political sciences at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Social Sciences. She has more than 30 years of work experience, mostly gained at the Employment Service of Slovenia (ESS), where she was employed from 1993 until April 2022. Afterwards, she continued her career at the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. In February 2024, she was appointment by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia as the General Director of the Employment Service of Slovenia.
Throughout her career at ESS, she performed various tasks, starting at the Maribor regional office, where she worked in the field of active employment policy programmes and analytics. She continued her career at the ESS Central Office, where she held various important managerial positions. Until January 2020, she was the ESS Deputy General Director for 6 years. She has in-depth knowledge of the labour market and the functioning of public employment services, which support the needs of a wide range of users: the unemployed, job seekers, young people in search of professional help in employment and career orientation, employers, providers of training andemployment programs, social partners, professional institutions and the general public.
